Completing the following activities will give you essential skills for navigating career and educational opportunities in the city. Through collaboration with urban peers, you’ll also discover ways to share innovative ideas and resources with rural communities, creating pathways to progress for others.
- Career fair or job shadowing experience: Attend a local career fair or arrange a job shadowing day with the help of urban peers. Explore potential career paths, learn about various industries, and connect with potential mentors or employers who can guide you.
- City startups & rural innovation: Partner with urban youth to organise an idea exchange event where you explore how city-based startup models, entrepreneurship networks, and tech solutions can be adapted to create opportunities in rural areas. Invite local entrepreneurs, mentors, or tech innovators to discuss remote work hubs, digital marketing for small businesses, and sustainable business practices. Together, brainstorm ways to support rural entrepreneurship and bring these innovative ideas back to rural communities.
- Rural-urban skills swap: Partner with urban peers to organise a skills exchange session where rural and urban youth share valuable skills for career growth. Rural youth can offer insights into hands-on skills like sustainable agriculture, local business practices, or community-building techniques. In contrast, urban youth can share digital skills, remote work tips, and networking strategies. This diverse skill set prepares both groups for career paths and promotes adaptability and collaboration across rural and urban settings.
