This activity will help you develop the skills needed to critically assess the information you encounter and to create responsible media content.

Join interactive workshops where you can learn to spot reliable and unreliable sources, practise fact-checking, and create your own media content that reflects ethical journalism standards. Participate in fun quizzes and games designed to boost your media literacy.

First, get inspired

Watch the TED talk by Nate Pressner with the bold statement: “You're being manipulated and don't even know it” presented at TEDxYouth@Basel.

Watch the video where Evaldas Rupkus, project manager and trainer at Deutsche Welle Akademie gives a quick overview of what is Media and Information Literacy and why it's important for youth work.

Now, take action!

You’ll leave with stronger media literacy skills and the confidence to create and share responsible media content by taking part in the following activities in your city:
  • Join media workshops: Learn from local journalists and media content experts about media literacy, ethical reporting, and storytelling techniques.
  • Organise a digital scavenger hunt where you and your peers search for both reliable and unreliable media sources online. Compare findings, identify key traits of trustworthy information, and learn how to verify content in a competitive, team-based setting.
  • Produce media content and ask for peer reviews: Create your media content and exchange feedback with others to improve your work.
