This activity helps you take an active role in shaping youth policies and participating in decision-making processes.
By learning how policies are created, practising advocacy skills, and engaging with policymakers, you’ll gain the confidence and tools to ensure young people’s voices are heard.
First, get inspired!
Learn from youth advocates: Watch videos of young leaders sharing their experiences in influencing policies and participating in decision-making bodies like youth councils and the EU Youth Dialogue.
Understand the policy process: Explore a guide that explains how youth policies are developed and the role young people can play in shaping them.
Explore success stories: Read inspiring accounts of youth-led campaigns that successfully influenced local, national, or European policies.
Now, take action:
By completing the following activities, you’ll engage in shaping youth policies, develop advocacy skills, and participate in decision-making processes that amplify the voices of young people and promote European programmes.
- Join a workshop: Participate in a session where you can learn how youth policies are made, who the key stakeholders are, and how to effectively engage in decision-making processes.
- Draft a policy proposal: Work with peers to identify an issue affecting young people and develop a set of actionable recommendations for policymakers.
- Present your ideas: Organise or join a youth hearing or town hall meeting where you present your policy proposal to local authorities, youth councils, or European programme representatives.
What you’ll gain
- Policy knowledge: Develop a strong understanding of how youth policies are created and the channels available for youth participation.
- Advocacy skills: Practice public speaking, proposal drafting, and stakeholder engagement.
- Real-world impact: Take steps to ensure your voice and ideas are heard by policymakers and decision-makers.
