Who is behind the awards?

The European Youth Goals Awards 2024 are proudly organised by the Cities of Learning Network, a collaborative network connecting cities, regions, and organisations across Europe. The network fosters accessible, inclusive, and engaging learning pathways for young people through innovative digital platforms, Open Badges, and learning playlists. Our mission is to empower youth, connect communities, and enhance learning opportunities.

This initiative is part of the European Youth Goals for Cities of Learning project, co-funded by the EU Erasmus+ programme and promotes civic engagement and learning opportunities that align with the European Youth Goals.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Team composition: Applications are open to teams of at least four young people aged 13 to 30. These teams may be independent or supported by organisations such as schools, youth clubs, or youth work organisations.
  • Project timeframe: Eligible projects must have been realised between January 2023 and September 2024.
  • Focus on European Youth Goals: Projects should contribute to one or more European Youth Goals, demonstrating a tangible positive impact on young people and their local communities. If unsure, use the chatGPT version of Youth Goals Hub to check how your project aligns with the European Youth Goals. Upload information about your project and ask which goal it contributes to most.
  • Clear evidence of impact: Applicants must provide clear evidence that the project was implemented and achieved its goals. This could include publicly available materials, such as publications, reports, media coverage, or online resources, to confirm that the project happened and had a tangible effect on its target group.
  • Youth participation: Projects should involve young people at every stage, from planning to implementation and evaluation.
  • Registration on Cities of Learning platform: The applicant team or organisation must register as an Organiser on the European Youth Goals platform and commit to helping register team members with Personal accounts. Registration is necessary to issue and earn digital Open Badges, which recognise and showcase the project's learning outcomes and achievements. Later, you can use the same account to access and use global or local Cities of Learning platforms.
  • Geographical priority: Projects from teams based in Cities of Learning locations and countries will receive priority, though this will not be the main determining factor in the selection process.
  • Public dissemination of project information. By applying, teams agree that their project information may be shared with the broader public to inspire others and promote the European Youth Goals. This may include Cities of Learning’s social media channels, email newsletter and through press and media activity.

Evaluation process

A diverse group of young people and partners from the Cities of Learning Network will evaluate projects. This inclusive evaluation process ensures that projects are judged by peers who understand the importance of youth participation and innovation.

The evaluation process will be based on the following criteria and indicators to ensure a fair and inclusive evaluation of the submitted projects. These criteria aim to measure the projects' quality, impact, and alignment with the European Youth Goals while also considering young people's involvement and impact on their communities.

Opportunities

By nominating your project for the European Youth Goals Awards 2024, the Cities of Learning Network may offer your team the following opportunities:
  • Personalised digital Open Badges will be awarded to recognise young people's experiences, skills, and contributions to achieving the European Youth Goals. These badges will serve as valuable, shareable recognition of their participation and achievements.
  • Covered access to Awero/Cities of Learning platforms (check regular access options): Applicants complying with the minimum quality criteria will receive free access to Awero/Cities of Learning platforms for 12 months. In addition, we will offer you support materials and resources to start your digital recognition activities, allowing teams to extend their impact by using digital tools to recognise skills and achievements.

How to check if your project is suitable:

  1. Visit the European Youth Goals platform to explore inspiring examples of how young people can contribute to achieving the European Youth Goals.
